I was introduced to Kazuki Tomokawa through his performance and appearance in Takashi Miike’s IZO. A perfect match, Miike’s Izo and Tomokawa are equal parts profane, unrepentant, perfectly natural and gut-wrenchingly other.
I was introduced to Vincent Moon’s three part introduction to his forthcoming Tomokawa documentary, La Faute de Fluers via We Have No Zen and Blogotheque’s Take Away Shows. Moon’s cinematography is intimate and richly overflowing with detail, texture and presence — providing a perfect place for Tomokawa to sit and bring it all down around him.
